we all do it. work. some of us all the time, some not as much as we need. show what you do to make a living. even if its not what you want to be doing from 9-5.
and don’t forget, you can use a cell camera phone in a jiffy if you don’t have your regular camera around.

Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, “happy accidents,” and alternative film processing are often considered part of the “Lomographic Technique.” – wikipedia
if you’re not familiar with lomo, check out the wikipedia page. and try searching for photos at flickr, you’ll find real and fake lomo photographs. lomo photographs are very saturated images, typically almost appearing surreal. they tend to be blurred at the edges with a vignette and have a very high contrast. check out the example images below.
creating faux lomo photographs have become popular with digital photography and variety apps. if you’re not sure how to create a lomo, google the term “fake lomo” or “create fake lomo” and you’ll get many tutorials. like this one. if you have a flickr account, their edit feature that uses picnik has a “lomo-ish” setting uder the create tab. and of course if you have a lomo camera, you can go for the real deal.

did you mom ever tell you to stop playing with your food? did you ever make a mountain out of mashed potatoes? no? well its a new day my friend. don’t like getting your fingers dirty? don’t worry, you can just make it look good on your plate.
depending on how creative you want to be, you can either make something out of food to photograph or you can just show us what you’re eating. some people even go so far with this idea that you can see a pumpkin carve itself on youtube. there will be some examples of the creative touch below, along with some more still life looking ones too.

this assignment is based off of a photo group at flickr called “secret life of toys.”
http://www.flickr.com/groups/secretlifeoftoys
we’re all kids at heart. and we all have some kind of toy… whether its ours, our child’s, or a keepsake. you decide this assignment how creative you want to be with your toy. do you want to set up a story for it, or maybe just photograph it where it lives. or maybe even just show someone playing with the toy. or maybe your toy is a tech gadget. feel free to define toy as you wish.

this will be the second in our color theme selections. this time we’re focusing on yellow. with this theme, you should try to have at 75% of your photo contain yellow. if you’re not able to do that, try to have the object that is yellow be the main focus.

the act of reflecting or the state of being reflected.
some of us have used photos of reflections in this site already, but for some it might be a new idea. your reflection does not need to be of yourself, but you could if you choose. feel free to use a mirror or other reflective surface like glass or metal. try to have the focus of your photo be the reflection and not just a small detail. we want to emphasize the reflection.
